“Johnny Rockets is a leader in the restaurant community,” CRAF Executive Director Alycia Harshfield said. “They have been champions of high school culinary arts education for many years now and they are creating tremendous opportunity for students.”
Competitors in the Johnny Rockets Culinary Cup have just one hour to prepare a starter, entrée and dessert using only two butane burners. Competitors cost out their recipes and are judged on knife skills, teamwork, safety, sanitation and communication.
“These students are just incredible! Without a doubt, these students are bound for great futures in the restaurant industry,” says Joel Bulger, Global Chief Marketing Officer at Johnny Rockets. “We are proud to be part of this event and create opportunity for young people.”
The winning team will go on to represent California at the 2017 National ProStart Invitational April 28-30, North Charleston, South Carolina. First-, second- and third-place teams also will qualify for scholarships to various culinary and hospitality post-secondary programs.
