Sacramento, CA – Carissa McCory of Whitney High School in Sacramento has been honored as the 2017 Educator of Excellence Award recipient by the California Restaurant Association Foundation (CRAF). She will be honored at the National Restaurant Association Education Foundation Educator of Excellence Dinner in Chicago on Thursday, May 18.
McCory is truly a leader among her peers, going above and beyond to share best practices with other ProStart teachers and inspiring ProStart students. An excellent teacher and role model, McCory is always willing to lend a hand and volunteer at CRAF events. She’s attended several training sessions and professional development conferences to offer current industry practices and knowledge to her students.
“I love my job! I love working with students to fire up their culinary passion and to discover new foods and cooking techniques,” Educator of Excellence honoree Carissa McCory said. “Being a mentor is challenging, exciting and so rewarding. This award is the culmination of 12 years’ hard work. I feel proud that people I respect so much decided that I deserve this honor.”
