Experience Hospitality, an annual event organized by the California Restaurant Association Foundation and the California State University, brings students from 11 area high schools together to get an up-close look at the hospitality industry, one of the nation’s largest, most dynamic industries.
This year, students toured a variety of hospitality venues including Hilton Anaheim, House of Blues, California Pizza Kitchen and Disneyland Hotel before practicing some valuable networking with industry pros at the Marriott Anaheim. For 69 percent of the student attendees, this was their first ever “networking” event.
“Experience Hospitality is bringing the best of California all together,” said Alycia Harshfield, executive director of CRAF. “We have high school ProStart students, we have community colleges, CSUs and industry. It is the best of all worlds coming together to offer career exploration and access to education.”
These businesses, along with both locally-owned restaurants and major restaurant chains, offer students a chance at a fast-paced career where their destinies are shaped by their own dreams. Hospitality and culinary professions give students a chance to become chefs, managers, executives, and entrepreneurs.
